Holidays in Beatrix Potter land

This past week I’ve been fortunate to spend a week with my family in one of my favourite places, the Lake District. My husband and I joined my mum, Dad, Sister Emma and her fiancé Rew, my niece Amelia and my Brother Sam – a real family affair! We stayed in a lovely little village called Coniston.

This was the first time Ian and I had stayed in Coniston whereas my Mum and Dad try and stay as often as possible and try and go on plenty of walks when they are here. We managed to squeeze in a ten mile trip through Tarn Hows to Langdale and back again. We managed to stay pretty clean apart from my Mum who fell in some mud hence the dirty boots! We were really lucky to be blessed with warm sunny weather all week which gave us the opportunity to spend lots of time in the sun. Ian, Sam and my Dad walked Old Man Coniston (a big mountain!!) and Amelia walked up her first (mini) mountain and all were presented with badges that they had completed their challenges!

We also visited a country fair whilst we were there which had a craft and vintage tent (my fav’s!) along with animal tents and lots of food and fun things to do! I managed to pick up some vintage embroidery patterns, a victorian pin dish and a floral broach! My niece managed to pick up a lamb!

Some of my favourite holiday memories will be sunny chill out days with the husband and books, spending time with my family and hearing my adorable niece wake me up with a ‘Good morning!) every day 🙂

Lastly I was able to pick some more crafty bits up on my way home. We found a lovely shop in Windermere called Scarlett Ribbon which stocked clothing, jewelley, furniture and my purchase, Annie Sloan furniture paint and wax.
A little bit further down the motorway the hubby stopped off at Standfast Fabric Factory and picked up some liberty and John Lewis fabric. I also came home to my Miss Maggie Rabbit Kit so have plenty to keep me busy 🙂
